    Yes, they same way they do on any gun.

    Keep in mind that most silencers are not truly silent as seen on TV. Although there are some that come VERY close. My bolt action .22 using subsonic ammo and silencer is quieter then when dry fired.

    I have a Hastings "metro barrel". It is a 30in, thread into rem choke ,thin light weight ported barrel. So you have a 30in ported extension on to your already 28in barrel! Works ok if used along with subsonic loads.
    Awkward LONG, yet light , for shooting from position at waterfowl within a Metropolitan (metro-barrel) populated area. Works fine with slugs too for deer in populated area. Drops the noise down about 50% with sub-sonic loads. Great for crows, you can hear the shot hit them.

    Might have a problem with the size of the suppressor and it's internal baffles. The suppressor has to be big enough to trap/absorb the propelling gas column behind the shot charge. Also the hole in the baffles has to be small enough to trap the same gas column, but if to small it will be damaged by shot charge and and wads. Velocity of shot shell also has to be less then 1100 FPS. If not the shot charge will break the speed of sound after leaving the muzzle creating a noticeable blast/report. Although feasible quite a lot of problems making a suppressor for a shotgun, IMHO.

    Yes, this will work, though as mentioned you need a suppressor specially designed for a shotgun, both to take into account pellet spread, and also large enough to accomodate the large amount of gas created by a shell. The working ones tend to be quite large.

    I'm a bit suprised nobody has mentioned "No country for old men" where one of the main characters (a psychopath assassin played by Spanish actor Javier Bardem) favored a suppressed shotgun as his main weapon:
