govt rebuilt 45s (WWII)

Does anyone know about the re manufactured 45s the govt bought from gunsmiths from demilled parts ,

and marked "WRS" for weebly repair standard , and given a new serial number many for lend lease guns.

After the war they were sold for surplus thru NRA and DCM for $25
in the 40s.

I have one that was given to me by the man that got it along with his receipt dated in 1947, given to me in 1969 for graduation.

So I believe if the govt had post WWI guns worn out in the 20s and 30s to cut up and sell for parts ,

then they had to be Colts since that is all they had in WWI.

Therefore my WRS "two piece" slide and frame (complete with US Army M1911 overstamp) is made from a Colt, or more correctly "several Colts".

  Springfield Armory and Remington-UMC made 1911s under contract in those days.

  I think you need to read Charles Clawson's book on Colt .45 Service Pistols This will give you the History of any rebuilding of pistols ,any renumbering ,all inspector markings ,ETC. You seem to be confused with the accuracy in many of the statements on your post.From the Price to who made pistols during WW I .
