    For starters the Mark III has been tweaked to make it more lawyer proof, by adding a magazine safety and a loaded chamber indicator.

    They also moved the mag release to the "normal" (for us USians) thumb release like the 1911 as opposed to the heel release ...

    I have a couple of the "Ruger standard" autos, before the MKI. Somewhere they added a bolt hold open after last shot feature, possibly between the MKI and MKII. The Standard auto and the MKI use the same magazines. After that there was a change in the design.

    both are a PITA to strip to clean .On top of that the hammer has to be cocked to put one model back together and the other model Can't be cocked to get back together.

    Which is amusing to me because the "American" magazine catch did not show up on American made guns like the 1911 until after we got a look at the German Luger.
