Bayonet for a Springfield A303
I have a bayonet for a Springfield, and have been trying to get it's age down.... all the ones I see on the gunbrokers site and others are WW2, none have the 2 rivets in the black handle, with a blade that is 11 1/2" long, on one side of the hilt is US, the other is 189? can't make out the last number. Anyone have an idea on this?

If it's dated from the 1890's, it's most likely a Model 1892 sword bayonet used on Model 1892 thru 1898 .30-40 Krag rifles. It will also fit on the US Model 1903 rifle. However, it was subsequently replaced by the Model 1905 bayonet.

try asking over on ask the experts forum here on gunbroker, this is the want ads to find items not ask about what they are. 0 -
Thanks for the great info!! It is not in as good of shape as the pics I have seen, but still nice to know what it is!!
Was trying to download a few pics, but looks like my skills at this are lacking..... I may post it for sale on the site later.
Thanks again for the help!!0
