How do I know where to set an adjustable choke?

    might want to read the barrel. if it is the same one i have tho mine be in .410. You CAN NOT use slugs with those adjustable chokes.

    Hmm, my dad has had one of these for many years, and ran slugs through it all the time...

    well on my old mossberg .410 bolt action (prob from 40-50's) states on barrel DO NO SHOOT SLUGS ON THIS BARREL or what ever but basically that

    IC will do the best.

    the c-lect will say cylinder use that. IC is improved cylinder most ammo manufatures recommend Imporved Cylinder for best results.

    Set it to the most open choke position. Normal chokes are from most open(least amount of constriction) to tightest constriction:
    Cylinder
    Improved Cylinder
    Modified
    Full

    Unless this gun has some add-on sights, you should keep your shots to very short range.

    Like Mobuck said, OPEN.

    Slugs shoot the best through cylinder and i.c. chokes.

    However, moms 1978 870 Wingmaster has a fixed mod. choke barrel on it. It has killed more deer since it was made than some kill in their entire life.
