Recocking the Internal hammers on an SXS
I had my Stoeger Uplander SxS apart today (why is another story for another time) and I managed to uncock (putting the firing pins forward) the internal hammer cocking levers and I am unable to recock them. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would like to get this gun back together ASAP as it is Turkey and Goose season again where I live. Thanks.

Oh my, you have a problem. I am not absolutely sure how the Stoeger works but chances are at the front of the receiver you will find the cocking rod (one or two), and the cocking rod travel back and cocks the hammers inside the receiver when you open the action. Of course the huge mechanical advantage gained by opening the action with the barrels still attached to the receiver is now totally lost and you are in for a struggle. Probably the simplest way to attempt this would be to find a solidly mounted bench or table along with a piece of wood so that you can press the front of the receiver into the wood in order to force the cocking rod back to cock the hammers. Don't try this with your wife's antique walnut dinning room table because you are going to make some serious indentations in the wood. The cocking rods often run at angles so try pushing up on the receiver as you press it home.

Use extreme care to prevent marring of surfaces while attempting this operation. I've recocked dropped hammers on a couple of SxS shotguns in the past and it is difficult but it can be done. 0
