Remington 700PSS Model or P?

I am the owner of a Remington 700PSS Model .308. I have only had it for about 3 years so it is fairly new. i want to know if there's any differance between this model & the straight 700P model? Or is there just a name change differance & they went from PSS to model P's after a certain date? I don't have a P to do a side by side comparison but there are no markings that say Police Model or Police Sniper System I'm hoping someone else does.

    To answer your question, I can't see a difference in them looking at ones on the auction side. You might call Remington for answers.
    I have a PSS-LTR, and the only thing I see different is the barrel.

    I'm pretty sure they're the same, different name. The PSS came firrst, the the Police. I have a Remington 700 PSS in 7mm Rem Mag and that's the explanation I got. Bought the PSS about 5 years ago at areduced price beecause it was "the older" model.

    You may be right but I am really curious for the definitive answer even if they are the same with only a name change seperating them. I got mine second hand so I couldn't be sure but the original owner swore it was a PSS with only 100 rds thru it & the gun seemed to back him up & I got it in 2008 & from the BBL code it's from January of 2005. That may make it one of the last of the PSS's
