Colt Junior 25 acp

Were some Colt Juniors made at the Colt factory in the USA or was they all made in Spain or some other country? Thanks for any info, I am thinking about trading for one and the dealer says its made in the USA. This one has a external hammer.

  Also how safe is the Colt Junior to carry loaded?

  After the Gun Control Act of 1968 came into effect, the Astra, Spanish made Colt .25's could no longer be imported. Colt made a agreement with Firearms International to manufacture them here in the U.S. using Spanish made parts, and enough U.S. made parts to make them legal. Unfortunately for Colt, Firearms International went out of business in 1971. This ended production of the U.S. made Colt Junior. No matter what Judge Colt says, I happen to think that relatively few were made and are worth more money to a collector then the Spanish made ones.
  
  It's a cheap single action handgun made with a combination of Spanish and U.S. parts. The only way I would carry it is with a loaded mag without a round in the chamber. Wouldn't trust it with the hammer down on a loaded chamber, or the safety on with the hammer cocked.

  The Colt Junior I am trying to trade for has no safety just a hammer. It has the Colt name and address on top of the barrel.

  This is a photo I got off the net. It shows a U.S. made Colt Junior with a safety on the left side of the frame, just to the rear of the trigger. If the one your inquiring about doesn't have a safety, I wouldn't buy it.

  The one I am looking at is just like the one you show but I thank that lever is just to hold the slide back, correct me if I am wrong.

  I have 2 of those Colt .25's. You are right and wrong, the lever on the left side does lock the slide back but also is a safety. Down it will fire, up it will not.

  correct me if i'm wrong, but weren't they renamed "automatic .25" when produced after 1970?
  no matter what, the model was never actually made by colt.
  i have both the vest pocket and the astra junior.
  the vest pocket is a far superior gun imho
