UPS Destroyed Another
UPS has destroyed a rifle stock on a Heckler & Koch GMBH Mod. HK 770 in 308. I hope this never happens to you! So I'm looking for one if any one has one or knows of one please let me know... THANK YOU

if they are packed them right it doesn't happened. I use a 10 x 6 telescoping with a minimum of 3 inches of bubble around the gun plus an additional 4 inches at each end. If it doesn't meet the packaging standard of protection ups will probably not pay 0 -
I solved this problem 2 years ago by shipping with USPS. If you do this you'll be glad you did.

Whichever carrier you choose, USPS or common carrier, their position is that the party responsible for proper packing is the shipper not the carrier. If folks would invest a couple of dollars more in sturdy cardboard tubes, like those heavyass thick sided carpet roll tubes, or even wood reinforced boxes, they would save themselves hundreds of dollars of damage. Get yourself downright paranoid when you are packing. Envision the old TV luggage commercial with the suitcase in the gorilla cage when you think about your package being handled during shipping. Believe that someone is probably going to stand on your box to reach another before it is loaded, then they will literally throw it on to the truck where someone else will use your long thin box as a lever to force other packages into position. Then, pack accordingly and you should be safe. [:)] Because, you are NOT going to win most claim disputes with the carriers. [;)] 0 -

+1 ... in addition, you have the option to insure the item.0 -
if inadequately packed the carrier will deny the claim even if insured and rightfully so. I spend over 20 bucks in packaging material for each long gun I sell. Safe overkill 0 -
Carpet tubes? Sounds intriguing! Now, how should the ends be sealed-off?

And yes, I do believe they throw things around as hard as they can. I went out to Nevada a year ago and they (airline) broke my 'airline rifle case'. They broke the one I used this year too!
I've never had anything damaged by the USPS so far. I've watched how UPS throws stuff and I can't see how they don't damage stuff.0 -
One has to wonder why someone wouldn't spend $20 on a cheap hard case at wally world in order to ship a $1k+ rifle... 0 -

Read above, They broke a decent $100 case...I forgot to mention it was a nicer case.0 -
I use a foam lined hardcase placed in a sturdy cardboard box fitted wirh stiffners 0
