Shotgun magazine extensions
Who knows about shotgun magazine extentions? I'd like to add one to my Remington 1100. My gun is plugged for 3 rounds. Suppose I remove the plug, what do I get? Is six or seven rounds in the mag feasable.?

5 plus one in the chamber...

Is that it? Hardly worth the effort. Couldn't you get different tube then add the mag extesion? Come to think of it if it were me I'd get a whole different barrel and tube then add the mag extension. Have one for birds (which you got) a swap out rig for zombies [:D].
Yeah, that is normal for a sporting shotgun... but you can get a longer mag tube, which would get you up to 7 or 8 plus one in the chamber. For the mossberg you need a new barrel since the bolt is attached to the barrel. Not familiar enough with the Remingtons, but I think the end cap only goes to the mag and there is a clamp to keep the mag and barrel together out at the end.0 -

You don't need a new magazine tube. Just take the cap off. Then you will see a plug in the end. Use a small screw driver and pr the plug out. Watch out as the spring had quite a bit of pressure and is long.
Replace the spring with the one that comes with the extention.Put the extention over the spring and work it down and screw it on the mag tube. Depending the length of the tube you might need a clamp from the barrel to it. The longer kits come with a clamp.0 -
Recent manufacture Remington shotguns have indentions in the tube so shells will not pass into an extension. The indented metal can be drilled out to allow an extension to function but be aware that it is extra work to put on what used to be a drop-in accessory.
As I recall, your plug allows two in the magazine plus one in the chamber for a listed three shot capacity. Take out the plug and you get four plus one for five total, not five in the magazine.0
