Latest .410 SXS Project
Here is another Savage stevens .410 I just finished. It has been dipped in a burl walnut after I reshaped the wood.

Todd, That looks great!
Where do you get that done?
Is that the only wood finish they offer?
What does it cost?
What kind of prep has to be done to the wood?
How does the finish hold up?0 -

I get it done at splash graphics out of minnesota. They offer thousands of different finishes, basically anything you can imagine. $125 for stock and fore end.
To prep stock just remove old finish, however I re fit the wood to metal, removed the pistol grip, thinned and fluted the comb, reshaped the forearm.
The finish has an automotive type laquer finish, I havent put it thru the wood yet but I imagine it will hold up like the finish on a new browning or weatherby, its about the same thing.

I hope not....[:D] These little SXS's fill a void for an American SXS 410. Savage really gave up on the wood to metal fit on the newer ones. No wonder they quit making them.0 -
I have a Savage 20ga SxS I've been wanting to work over like you did the .410. They have a helluva pattern selection, wonder if they'll make an English walnut?

I think most of the patterns are burl and marketed towards automotive interior. Let me know if you find something more like this.
