F open class with muzzle brake

I am thinking of getting a Savage LRH in 260 to start shooting F Class. The Long range hunter comes with a 26" barrel and an adjustable muzzle brake.

I know that muzzle brakes are not allowed in F Class but if the mb is adjustable does that mean you can close the mb completely and still shoot the LRH? Thanks.

  The simple answer is NO.
  
  The longer answer is still simple just more words.
  
  Sanctioned F-Class competitions do not allow muzzle brakes on the barrel at all, whether they can be turned off or not. This rule prevents any potential for errors or misgivings. Call it the rule of absolutes.
  
  There may be exceptions for local matches or non-sanctioned matches, you will have to ask in each particular situation. When hunter benchrest first got underway, the scope power was and still is limited to 6x. The officials were letting shooters tape their variable scopes at the 6x power in order to allow them to compete. This got more folks shooting HB but the same allowance doesn't apparently exist for F-Class.
  
  The best method is to take the brake off and replace it with a thread protector.
  
  If it's a matter of recoil control, try another cartridge. The current darlings of the long range accuracy shooters are the 6mmBR, 6 Dasher and the 6BRX. These are all variation on a theme based on the 6mm Remington BR case. These cartridges are very mild yet hyper accurate when fired by a trained shooter in a properly designed rifle.
  
  I think Savage was offering the 6BR in one or more of their target rifles. If not, it's an easy conversion for the Savage.
