94 Date of manufacture

I have a 1894 flatband, serial #1417876. Can someone let me know date of manufacture. Thank you.

  As Spider pointed out, your Flat-band was manufactured in early 1947. For my survey, I would like to know two things;
  
  (1) What caliber is it?
  (2) Is the hammer checkered or serrated?

  Bert The gun is 30 caliber. The hammer is like on page 80 of the winchester 94 book,2nd edition, middle hammer, checkered.

  Do you know what the barrel date is? There is a 2-digit year number stamped on the bottom of the barrel right next to where it enters the receiver frame. I suspect that it will be marked "47", but I would like to confirm that if you are willing to remove the magazine tube and forend stock to look at it.

  Bert I looked under magazine tube this morning and this is what's there. 30 WCF 46. So what does this mean? That this gun is 1946 model?

  Overlap. Sometime after the barrel folks made their run, and the receiver folks stamped the receiver with the SerNo, the gun was assembled.
  
  They [the assemblers/final fitters] simply pulled a finished barrel from the bin that just so happened to be completed a 'tad' earlier than when the SerNo was applied to the receiver.
  
  Different departments (of the same factory) making parts at a slightly different rate. Your SerNo dates to '47. That's what is the 'date' for your gun. That is all. Joe

  The serial number on your gun dates it to early 1947 (most likely late January). It is not at all unusual to find a barrel dated the year prior on a first month of the year serial numbered gun. Likewise, if the serial number indicates a late November or December production date, it is not out of the question to find a barrel date one-year later (e.g. December 1947 serial number, with a "48" marked barrel. My on going survey of the Model 94 (55 and 64 as well) has been very educational in regards to this very topic.
