Colt Agent - finish.
I just purchased a Colt Agent, short frame, shrouded ejector and hammer, serial no. M696XX. It's finish - unlike my Detectives - is matte black.
What is it?
Thanks all for your replies.

There are at least 3 generations of these, plus variations. And, I've seen several used Colts at recent gun shows that have been spray painted.
It would be best if you could post photos.

The matte finish Agent is a model that was made during the awful strike at Colt in the Mid-1980s when the final finishers were in short supply. They have the alloy frame of the Cobra, long plain wood stocks and a matte finish, whereas the Cobra has a gloss finish and long checkered wood stocks. Mechanically, they are the same gun.
For reference, it should be noted that the matte finish, all-steel Commando was the strike version of the Detective Special.0
