Post photos of the left side for an accurate appraisal. There is some obvious pitting on the bottom of the frame just behind the hand guard. forearm If there is more on the left side it would have a very negative affect on collectors value.
I seen guns that were improperly stored in the past that were pristine on one side and deeply pitted POS on the other.0 -

the left side looks like the right. the pitting in the carry area on the frame is very light, it will clean off and leave speckles of metal. none of the scratches on the stock are into the wood and the finishes are original.0 -
It appears to be a Deluxe.. Correct swivels, grip cap. bbl. length.. The early deluxe 71's had the rear sight on the breech bolt, but the later one's, like yours, were drilled for a receiver sight.. Yours looks like a Redfield.. Not sure if it's factory, but it is period.. Sure the wood hasn't had a coat of varnish applied? Looks kinda glossy, especially in the checkering.. Not up on current values.. 0 -
As Bob suspects, it most definitely has had an extra coat of varnish added after the fact.
Yes, it is the Deluxe variation.
Edit: Winchester factory installed both the Lyman No. 66 and the Redfield receiver peep sights... which type is on the rifle?0
