Kimber Pro Carry vs Dan Wesson?

I can't speak to the Kimber, I have the (CZ brand) DW CBOB and PM7 and each is one of the better 1911s I've bought over the last 40 years or so. The slide to frame and barrel fit is very tight, you will generally get no movement between the three components. The DW has a Series 70 firing system and I think that gives a better trigger pull than models using the Series 80. I don't know what type the Kimber uses.

The DW is excellent quality, I believe it uses no MIM parts and while I don't join the "MIM sucks" crowd I guess I'm old enough to prefer machined.

It has no impact on function, but I think the DW line looks spartan and sharp while the Kimber looks rounded and soft. The finish looks applied rather than "part of" the metal.

Accuracy on the DW is better than I can hold, nearly as good as my Smith 25 revolver.

My suggestion is to get your hands on both, cop a feel so to speak.

At this point in time, I would go for the DW, and stay away from the Kimber, and especially the alloy framed Kimber's. I wouldn't be afraid of a Para USA either, or if you have a few extra $$ floating around, the epitomy of the 9mm Commander sized 1911's would be a Wilson for sure, and on that same level Fusion.
