.17 INCINERATOR cartridge
At the Lebanon PA gun show on Sat - saw a very unusual cartridge which was labeled as a .17 Incinerator. It had a .17 caliber Spitzer projectile on what looked to be a sharply tapered .50 BMG casing - no shoulder, as you can imagin the casing tapered very sharply from the point where the shoulder would be down to the .17 case mouth. Anybody ever hear of or see such a thing - was it actually a real, usable cartridge?

Yep, that's what I saw - a gag round, eh? Something like the .45/38 cartridge I have on my key chain (.45 APC round stuffed into a .38 SPL casing.) 0 -

We used to lathe turn the cases out of solid bar stock then ream a hole for the bullet. This was done for friends and family as gimmick gifts in both the .17 and .22 caliber 'cartridge'.

Have taken .50 BMG brass, cut off to about 2 inches, and lathe cut and lip an EMPTY 12 gram CO2 cartridge to fit as a bullet. Silver solder, and give to the guy bragging about his Casul or Linebaugh- just to watch his jaw drop.
Of course, the ultimate is the 40mm Bofors, necked down to a sewing needle..........[:p]0 -
