RECHAMBERING?????

I got a heavy barrel Remington in 223 cal and i want to re-chamber it to a 22-250, looks like not much to it, anybody here know what it would take and how much would it cost??? thanks in advance

  You would also have to have the bolt face/ejector altered, over and above having the barrel rechambered. The 22-250 has the same rim/base dimensions of the .308 family of cartridges, whereas the .223 is quite a bit smaller. It might be more cost effective to just get a bolt that is specific for the 22-250, rather then having a gunsmith trying to correctly rework a .223 bolt.
  
  Also since the 22-250 cartridge is larger in diameter then the .223, the gunsmith might have to open up the internal magazine rails so that the 22-250 will feed correctly from the magazine.

  rufe-snow is spot on on this subject. By the time you get done with all the Modifications you are going to need, you will have almost as much, or possibly more invested into this rifle, as you would to just go buy another rifle, or at least find a decent used one from places like the auction side.
  
  That is precisely the direction I would steer you, as you can almost never have to much iron.

  Thanks a lot guy's I will start looking for a 22-250, I would try to sell my 223 but I do not have any luck selling used guns, if they are worth $300.00 I am lucky to get $100.00 so I just keep them till some one I know like as relative or a neighbor and give them to them. thanks again fer the advice.

  Chuck, have you tried looking at the AUCTION SIDE of gun broker. sell your rifle there, do a search on SOLD m-700's.

  Check the Gunbroker Auctions and also look under the trade section.
  
  You might be surprised at the number of folks who are in the same boat as you and would be open to a trade.

  Yeah, I'd imagine there has to be someone else out there who wants to swap their .22-250 model 700 for a .223!
  
  Find that person, and I think you'll do better than trying to sell the one you have and buy another, let alone convert its caliber.
