Cetme scope mount

Kenthetoolman
B-Square makes a scope mount for the HK91. Will this mount
work on a Century Arms Cetme Sporter? Is this type of
mount a stable platform or a P.O.S. ?
After the good Dr. did some operating on my Cetme, I have
a keeper.

    I just mounted a stanag claw style mount on my cetme and discovered that now the bolt won't go to the rear. Apparently it is pushing the sides in enough to stop the bolt about 1" from the forward position. I had to remove the mount to free up the bolt.
    Has anyone had or heard of this problem before? The way it looks I may have to remove some metal from the bolt carrier to fix this.

    If you have one of the post ban CETME'S with a US made receiver, not too surprising.

    I would be very cautious about removing metal from the bolt carrier. They are recoil operated with rollers that lock the bolt only momentarily at time of ignition. Changing the weight/mass of the bolt carrier might negatively affect operation. I would line up a spare bolt carrier if possible, if things don't go right with the one your trying to rework.

    The favored "disable" procedure for taking the G-3 out of service was to strike a solid blow to the receiver opposite the ejection port with a heavy ball-peen hammer. Once this is done there is no field expediant way to get it to function again. It sounds like there is enough give in the receiver you have to make it inoperable just with the compression provided by the claw mount. I wouldn't start removing metal from anything the German engineers have built, they did it that way for a very good reason! With the drum type iron sights you should be good to 400 meters at least.

    CETME isn't a G3. Most likely it's one of the post ban parts guns, that no German engineer ever had his hands on. They were built up from parts kits imported from Spain. The receivers were US made, definitely not to any military specs. Depending who made them here in the States they could be sheetmetal or even aluminum castings. That's why the OP is having trouble with the scope mounts. If he had a original Spanish arsenal CETME, doubtful he would have problems with the receiver deforming.
