Good rust cleaner for guns
Hi guys,
I have a gun that isn't even a year old and has developed a small rust spot on the outside of the barrel above the chamber. I take great care of my guns, so this is thoroughly annoying. It is my carry piece and I live in Florida, so the humidity is crazy down here and the barrel is not finished in any way, so perhaps that had something to do with it. It's brushed steel so the rust is in these tiny crevaces. Would it be OK to use some CLR on it? Or do you guys have better suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

take a paper towel and put some KROIL in the towel rub the towel on the rust then Wrap towel around the rusted part and hold it in place with a rubber band wet the paper towel where it contacts the rust put whole thing in a zip lock bag and let sit for 24-48 hours then use brass pot scrubber on rusted area. and coat with Ballistol. These products are NOT available at WALMART but good gun shop or on line. 0 -
Once you've removed the rust, try a coat of Renaissance Wax. Dries clear, no streaks, no waxy feel, good protection against moisture. 0 -

Go online and check out bdsuperlube.com. They are out of Lakeland Florida in Polk County since you say that you live in Florida. It so happens that I live in this humid state too. Richard over at suncrest distributors will get you squared away. They're superlube is all natural and has a pleasant smell. It means no harmful vapors and its ok if you get it on your hands. No worrys of cancer later in life due to exposure. Next time you pick up any form of firearm lubricants or solvents, be sure to read the back of the labels explaining "harmful if swallowed, avoid contact with skin and eyes, always use proper ventilation, and last but not least, my favorite, has been known to cause cancer in california". Do yourself a huge favor and call bdsuperlube at 863 686 9709. Tell them that I sent you and recommended them. Once I bought a sxs shotgun. Rusted solid. After a few days of rubbing down with superlube parts on the old shotgun began to free and the rust was coming off of the metal in droves. The rags I used for wiping it turned orange. A few more days and the rust was completely gone and the original petina began showing. They are located at P.O. Box 2643 Lakeland Florida 33806. Just my 2 cents. Best 0 -

Sounds like they make great products.0 -
For a carry gun that sees a lot of humidity and body sweat daily, the right paint might be the answer after you get the rust off.. 0 -
Perhaps I should have it blued after I get the rust off? 0 -
Somewhere down by you is one of the primiere firearms' refininhers in this whole fair land.
Ford's Gunsmithing. They're located at Crystal River (near Miami?) Here's the link: www.fordsguns.com They'll 'black chrome', or perform any finishing task, and it will be 'mission oriented', if you tell them what you need the finishing to accomplish. Best! Joe0
