8mm pistol rounds

anyone have any experience if there's any common ground?
ie will 8mm steyr interchange with 8mm level?
can .32 cap be fired in place of either?
i'm specifically looking at alternative ammo for an 8mm level revolver, but
interested in the cross use of the others.

thanks rufe. i have limited amount of 32-20 brass and i want to keep it for my winchester reloads.
fiochi had some 8mm steyr a few years ago. thought i'd try and grab some on the auction side IF it might be compatible. don't know of any other 8mm pistol rounds available.

  My experience with the French Model 1892 ordnance revolver is that it's a rimed cartridge that is best made from cut down and reloaded 32-20 brass. If anything the 8mm Steyr Rast-Gasser revolver cartridge is even rarer and more difficult to obtain then then the original French 8mm M 92 ammo. I have no experience firing the .32 ACP through the M 92 revolver, don't know if it would function and fire?
  
  
  EDIT #1, 32-20 brass would still be your best choice IMHO. It does have to be cut down though as the French M 92 has internal shoulders in the chambers that prevents use of full length 32-20 brass. .320 TMJ bullets from Graff & Son are the most accurate as standard 32-20/.32 ACP/.30 Mauser bullets are way undersized, shooting them will just cause keyholing in the target.

  As rufe said, and you seem to already know-- the .32-20 is about the only way to go for the 8mm- Lebel.
  
  Read where .32-S&W Long will work, but swelled cases and poor accuracy to be the norm.
  
  .32-ACP, even it being semi-rimmed, and the indeed rimless 8mm-Steyr, both being pistol ammo, don't believe I'd try either in a revolver unsupported without half-moon clips? Others may know better for your Lebel??

  the game has changed. i just found a galois Gaulois palm squeezer 8mm pistol!
  i'm guessing that one takes the 8mm steyr???
  looks like i'll be giving up some 32-20 brass for the revolver.[:(]

  i guess i need to pull up all the case dimensions and loads for 8mm/32 ?
  i asked the seller about the galois, all he knows is it's 8mm. that fits with what little info i can find on the gun.

  If it chambers the same cartridge as the U.S. made palm pistol, ( the ammo was known in the U.S. as 32 extra short rimfire. As far as the old black powder ammo was concerned 8mm & 32 are same same ), it's a very short rimfire cartridge. That Steyr ammo isn't going to do you any good.
  
  EDIT #1, Just dug up some photos of Gaulois ammo from a old net auction. It is centerfire not rimfire. It appears to be much shorter in overall length then modern centerfire ammo though.
