Contender and Black Powder
If you fire BP in a Contender barrel, does the powder residue get on the frame as bad as a revolver or is it confined mainly to the barrel?

you will get a very , very small amount around the fireing pin , this comes back thru the nipple , again its a very small amount and should cause no problems 0 -

Are you firing BP cartridges such as 45/70 out of the Contender? If that's the case I would think only the barrrel is involved. You might want to wipe down the breech face.
I've been thinking of doing the same, having a long octagon barrel made for my Contender and chambering it in 45/70 or 45/90. I'd use peep and globe sights or a Malcolm scope for a little bit of authenticity. Seems like fun.0 -
Can't see using black powder if you don't have to.
