remington 40x sporter
were the clips for the repeater 22LR ever available as an aftermarket item? A guy has offered to sell me a rifle but with no clip. I can find none so far.

Have you tryed the tModel 511 513 521 magazine for some reason I thought they would work. or maybe the model 37 The last model 37 Magazine I saw sold for $150.00 but look for Magazine not CLIP. 0 -
Remington 40 X magazines are tough to find and sell for $150.00 to $200.00 we've sold a few over the years (none now).
No aftermarket magazine ever ever made, and no other Remington magazine will fit.
But a Marlin Model 25 N magazine can be altered to fit. Yep it's true.0 -

As I understand it, a 40X is a single shot. It is the 40XB that is the repeater. The original box for my 40XB has an end label to that effect. I guess a 40XB with no magazine becomes a 40X!
I know that 40XB magazines are unique so finding one is about impossible. There were only about 700 40XB rifles made so the number of magazines ever made is probably not much more than twice that amount. IF one were ever found, I would think the price would be even higher than quoted.
What a dilemma. A rifle worth thousands with a magazine. Without a magazine, I would think the value would be reduced a great amount.
hoosier, have you tried the alteration of Marlin Model 25N magazines yourself? What modification is needed? I have five magazines for mine (none for sale - sorry, just greedy I guess!), but I would like to know about the conversion of the Marlin magazines "just in case."
In this situation, I would probably go on the Remington section of the Rimfire forum and advertise for one. That location would likely be the best place to find one. Offer to pay BIG bucks and one might shake out of the woods.0 -
Several years since I did one. But the magazine box is almost identical. The lug on the back of the magazine needs to be altered sightly lower. Also the angle of the lips need to be higher.
Yes it worked. Sold the rifle several years ago.
