Winchester model 70, post-64 - sight threadsize..?
I'm looking for a plug-screw (or four!) for a Winchester, model 70, post-64 - in cal .222Rem.
The gun had front and rear sights mounted, but previous owner have taken them off as he fitted a scope. Leaving four holes in the barrel.
Just for completion and peace of mind, I'd like to find the correct plug screw in the correct thread size.

Well, about 20 $ plus postage for this little thing - is about my limit, so Brownells would be a fine bet.
I don't want the complete set, as I've never had a call for such screws before - and are not likely to again.
So I'm just asking, what threadsize would Winchester be using to mount front and rear sights on a Winchester 70, .222Rem (standard huntingrifle - nothing fancy).???

It will fit your winny. buy them all and aution the rest off in lots of 2 or 4. I will buy some of them and your's will be free.
better yet I will split them with you.
They will fit pre 64 winnys too!0 -
Go to any gunshop that mounts scopes and usually in the rifle holding fixture where they mount the scopes they put the plug screws that were removed to mount the scopes. That's where I get all my plug screws 0 -

Nanoq is from across the water in metric territory. Not likely to be many 6 X 48 plug screws floating around. I don't know for a fact but doubt that metric sized plug screws would be interchangeable, for the ones used in his Winchester. Unless he can run across a U.S. based smith who has some extras, Brownells would be his best bet. 0 -

Postage alone would make it even worse than just buying the kit and dumping the ones I don't use. That's no option.
Noone here have the screws or usually use them.
Therefore, I'm just looking for the exact right ones - using the 4 of ONE of the 12 piece set is no nevermind to me.
If 6x48 is the right one, that's all I need to know. [8D]
I'd even send the remaining 8 screws to anyone who want them, no charge, no question asked.
