The rest of them need to come home too. Every single one of them, and the VN government needs to open the books and tell us what happened to the ones the tortured to death and where those remains are.

This must have been even rougher for family and firends, to not be able to have him home for all of those years.

Welcome back to home, SFC Shue. This is for you ... and a
thousand more, if we find them:

    The Missing Man Is Home
(That little, lonely table we set, in honor of brother and sisters in arms,
always gets my fierst respect when I enter a Vet's Hall or meeting. I miss them.)

The Missing Man Is Home, 2011

I saw the parade, I heard the trucks and motorcycles.
Although we only knew him as a name, as one we saluted.
Many of those who knew his part in the war shed tears,
for him being lost, and ourselves guilty to have survived.

There is deep fulfillment in knowing that our holding fast
has been rewarded now; a comrade now rests at home.
There are more men to be to be found and returned, at last.
Our hearts burn with hope that each warrior's return will come.

We could wish for a better peace -- peace all over the world,
but we who served as he did are too old to be belligerents.
We still know well how to pray, as we did for him. "Oh God...."
...is all we can say, for it slips so readily out the lips.

    To all of us much has been given;
from each of us much will be required.
    Semper Fidelis
We all know what it means
