Springfield?

After all the suggestions for the gift 1911 in my previous post I got to thinking, I might want one myself! My "price point" will be considerably lower, however. Saw this on the auction side:

  I understand the caliber is the same as a '03' Springfield, but why is this rifle mentioned in the 'Springfield' book? Looks like a Martini action to me.

  If you will check springfields website, their home page declares that all of their 1911's are forged, whereas the majority of other 1911 manufacturers use castings. My 1911 choice is always springfield. A few years ago, they even manufactured a high capacity 1911. You made a good choice.

  Nothing wrong with a pistol with parts made in South America I just have never liked the fact that they used the Name of a U.S. Governmental Armory to sell many uninformed people that thought they were buying a U.S. built Item from a old respected for quality Armory. IMHO better then getting one built from castings from ASIA. that also use a play on words to make a buyer think he is getting original Military built item.

  I am a fan of Springfield 1911s and a "Loaded" version should do just fine for you.
