Hey Fellas, I purchased a great VZ 24 (8mm mauser) about a year ago and im thinking about getting a scope for it, but I have a couple questions before I go forward with this, are there any scopes out there that can mount without having to tape the rifle with holes for fitting, and lastly since the bolt is straight out opposed to bent like the German K98's Will a german K98 bolt fit a VZ .24? I've heard yes and no on that one they're pretty much identical rifles except for the bolt and a couple minor things.. Any input would be appreciated.

  Don't know about the bolt, but there is a mount you can install into the rear sight base requiring no drilling/tapping. Since the mount is so far forward you also don't need to bend the bolt.
  
  Problem is that you need to use a forward type "scout" (or pistol) long eye relief scope, and that limits you in terms of both magnification and field of view. But it will work reasonably well if you just want a low power scope.

  Swapping bolts can get you in trouble. There are mounts that attach to the rear sight base and use a pistol, red dot, or scout type scope. I have used this type a couple of times and they do work but aren't my first choice.

  A 98k bolt will fit the action, but you still have to verify headspace. Also the swept down bolt will require relieving some wood from the stock. It still won't offer enough clearance for a scope unless a scout style is used, you need a special sporter profile bolt handle for that.
