Like many Ruger products you will be lucky to see one in the flesh within one year of first announcement that they are going to make an ITEM. [:(] They make good firearms but sometimes I come up with an IDEA anounce they are going to make it and then see how many orders they get before even setting up any of the machines to make this Item. 0 -
I'm curious in the way they are going to manufacture them. Ruger is big on casting. They will be coming out of Prescott, AZ. 0 -
FYI--I just saw an article in the new shooting times mag. Thats where i got the idea. Dick Metcalf wrote the article based on a test gun he had back in Dec. 2010. Yes, they are cast. THX HAWKSHAW 0 -
Of course the recievers are cast, that is Ruger's main business. They (as Pine Tree Castings) cast receiver blanks for Caspian and no doubt others.
They say the slide is milled from billet or forging, I misremember which in the advertising.0 -
Let's see if they can manage to release this in a timely manor, with NO recalls.
It's a 1911, basicially perfected years ago.
Which means if anyone can screw it up, it's Ruger.0 -

I am a Ruger shareholder. At the annual meeting several years ago the CEO stated they would not release any gun to the market without I believe 10,000 units on the shelf. That was true with both the LCP & LCR. On both of those the demand just exceeded capacity and I wouldn't be surprised if it happens here. I think 10,000 is a good number for an initial release0 -
I have a BIL that works for Ruger and he's not even a gun guy . This has worked well for me over the years . I saw the article in ST and called my BIL and ordered one . They should be a decent piece every other Ruger pistol or revolver that I have owned have been good ! If I don't like it I can always sell it at a profit ! 0 -
Its a 1911. They've been in continuous manufacture for 100 years and have been made in at least two dozen plants in at least 5 different countries over the years.
Ruger has been casting 1911 receivers for Caspian (no slouch company) for years. All sorts of aftermarket parts are available from multiple sources.
So despite the fact that Ruger had to issue recalls on several of its new design pistols over the last few years, I still strongly doubt that Ruger is going to put out a Turkey here.
The only question in my mind is where these pistols fall on the price/quality curve.
Incidentally, I believe that both "Downrange TV" and "Gunblast" are in part sponsored by Ruger. So I think its wise to take their reviews with a grain of salt.0
