SMITH&WESSON MODEL 67 AGE

I have a friend with a S&W Model 67 4" barrel 38 special. Serial #
3047xx. Can anyone tell me the year of manufacture? Thanks in
advance.

Unfortunately, I believe you have the serial number wrong. There should be at least one letter in there somewhere.

The model 67 is a stainless steel, 38 special revolver built with adjustable sights on a K frame and was first introduced in 1972. The serial number will be on the bottom of the butt. Other numbers are assembly numbers.

According to the S & W book, "K3047XX" would date to 1957, which obviously wouldn't be correct for a Model 67. Have him check it again for a number in front of the "K", in this format "?K3047XX".
