The post war manufactured, Walther .32 police pistols, were imported as surplus and sold in quantity during the 80's/90's. Likely it would cost you a little more then you could get out of it, to buy one of the late issue P 38's with the reinforced frame. Since they, ( the P 38's ) have pretty much dried up in the market place, I've noticed they have gone up in value.

You might consider one of the police trade in handguns some of the dealers sell instead of the P 38, though. I've noticed them being offered for what I consider reasonable prices.

I bought 2 in 1981 for $129 each, still have one. They now sell for $300-400 here in upstate NY.
Great pistols,I carry mine while fishing at night in case I spot a coon.

When police trade in PP's and P-1's (alloy P-38's) were coming in, they retailed in the store I worked at for $159 and $189 respectively.

I personally kept the PP and sold the P1 due to possible problems with the P1 frame cracking.

The new P-38's and P-5's corrected this problem by reinforcing the frame with steel rails.
