change choke on Win 42
I picked up a very nice Win 42 in full choke. I'm thinking about opening it up to modified. Will this be any improvement and will it hurt the value? It's a 90-95% gun. thanks Don

hurt, hurt!,leave it alone and buy a remington or other pump gun with a modified choke if thats what you want. eastbank. 0 -
Well, whattyaknow? I find myself agreeing with Mr. eastbank!
Please don't mess with a nice 42!0 -
I agree on loosing value, and second guestion why?????????? If you want to shoot slugs just do it, patter will not be effected enough to warrant the loss of value on the shotgun by opening it up to modified, the full will still shoot slugs if that is what you want, otherwise I suggest leave it alone. 0 -
You can do what you want with your gun but it will hurt the collector value and personaly I would not do it. Hard to find nice original 52's. 0 -
If you modify that Model 42 in any way, it will diminish the value considerably. By doing so, could open your pattern enough to make it ineffictive for most wing shooting too. That is part of the mystique of a nice, tight patterned 410...being more precise with your shot.
