1. Does anyone know what the max pressures are for a remington 1100 in both 20 and 12ga
2. Highly doubt i can get this one answered. what is the max pressure on a Winchester model 91 O&U <<<< uber rare and dont want to hurt it in any way but would like to know my limit if i choose to make some hot loads down the road

Both good questions for the Tech's at Remington or Winchester.
Modern ammo for 12g is loaded at ~11,000 psi or less. Very few are around 11,300 psi.
Most are in the 7,000- 11,000 range. That maybe something to keep in mind when loading hot.
You'd have to ask someone besides me what the max psi range would be for the older Winchester 91. 3 dram shells at the store are ~1200fps. If it were my gun in question IMHO I'd go with those type of loads any time.0 -
well i have talked to winchester via email and phone (not customer service tho) upper level ppl and they either are really dumb when it comes to my 91 or they dont give two poops. They cant even find me parts if i wanted them [:(] 0 -

I feel ya there. I called about a Model 94 XTR. I talked to a lady and she didn't know what the XTR stood for. She finaly got me on the phone with a guy that only could tell me it was made in 1986, but he didn't know what XTR stood for.
You have to get lucky enough or dig to find the right number to call. You will have to ask what the chamber pressure rating is on the shotgun barrel.0 -
yea well my main prob is the gun was not made by them only sold under there name. it was made in spain by ?(forgot company) to compete with the 101 and winchester could not have that so they bought out the company and changed their model number to one of there own 0 -
The industry maximum pressure for shotgun shells is in the range of 11,000 - 12,000 psi. Nobody will tell you their gun is rated for any form of "hot load" higher than that pressure. Nobody will publish tested load data for any "hot load" higher than that pressure. Shotshell reloading is more of a recipe job than brass, best to load by the book.
I am not familiar with a Winchester Model 91 but if it is Spanish made it will have been proof tested for use at UP TO the industry maximum pressure. Not more. No "hot loads."
If you look at a shotshell loading manual or the FREE information from the powder companies, you can pick useful loads at less than maximum pressure. You need maybe 8000 psi to run the gas operated Remington 1100s and most powders need that much "heat" to burn evenly anyhow. Your Spanish double will last longer if you load it down in that range, too.0
