S&W Model 1000 20 gauge question

I have a friend that has one of these shotguns and he says it misfires on occasion. Any thing special he needs to do or what parts might he need? Thanks for the help.

  Try a thorough cleaning, including bolt disassembly first. You can get it clean and might not need any parts.

  WHILE CLEANING ALSO CHECK INSIDE THE MAGAZINE TUBE. THERE IS A RUBBER 'BUMPER' THAT TURNS TO 'GOO' OVER TIME. GUNPARTSCORP.CON HAS REPLACEMENTS.

  Check the main spring (Hammer Spring) After cleaning. I have replaced several of these which were weak.
