sighting in .25-06

If I sight in a .25-06 dead on at 25 yards using Federal 117 gr bullets, where will it hit at 100 yards?

  If you are about 3/4 inch low at 25 you should be right on at 100 according to the tables put out by Federal.
  By those same tables, if you are dead on at 25 you will be 3" high at 100.

  It really depends on the height of the center of the scope above the center of the barrel. As previous posters mentioned, the assumption of the line of sight above the barrel determines where the bullet hits over the course of its flight.
  
  At 100 yards, the bullet can be any where between 2.5 to 3.5 inches high. Best to check the actual location at 100 yards rather than make any assumptions.
  
  I remember an old Jack O'Connor story in Outdoor Life in the 1960s on how he eyeballed the zero at 25 yards through the barrel with a 270 or 280 in Nepal and then shot a crow at around 250 yards that confirmed the zero and had the local guides to hold him next to god with that feat.

  That said, there are too many variables involved to give a real accurate definition here. Those factory tables are based on the laws of averages, most likely for a 24 inch test barrel, and have been extrapolated a little.
  
  As mentioned before, the height of your sight, or precisly the distance of the center line of your scope to the centerline of the bore are critical, as are the actual velocities from your rifle. To put it dead on at 25, will get you on the paper at 100...usually. Then check it at 100 and adjust it where you need to.
  
  As a note, I usually sight in most of my hunting rifles so they are dead on at 200 yards. Any thing out to 300 is a center chest hold, and the critter will have a hole in the vitals. 400 yards requires no light under the cross hairs. I am a little more particular with my long range rifles though.
