Hornady Lock N Load

For the second time the index wheel and drive shaft are stuck and will not turn. If I lower the pawls out of the way the shaft will go up with the pull of the lever. Last time I sent it back. Cost me $28 in shipping and two months waiting. Does anyone know what the problem is so I can fix it?

  Yes, The problem is it does not say RCBS or Dillon it. For a progressive, the Dillon name is the standout of the crowd.

  spent primer caught somewhere??
  I would disassemble it to look for something wedged or broken.
  just take a few pics as you disassemble to help in reassembly.

  been there done that!!!!! spent primer might be a problem, but i had your problem with my lnl several times.
  
  first....suggest.....DON"T WORK ON YOUR LNL IN SLIPPERS. WHEN IT FALLS OFF YOUR WORK BENCH IT WILL LAND ON YOUR FOOT!!!!!! been there done that too!!!!!
  
  what happens is the timing is out of wack. look under the lnl and you will see two wedge shape "paws". they conrol the amount of rotation by their height.
  
  takes a very small allen wrench to loosen the set screws. go ahead and get all your cussing over with. it's going to be a real pain to reset. you will find a difference of only .001-2" makes a big difference. look close and you will see which paw starts rotation and which paw stops rotation.
  
  never got thing going just right, now just take my finger to finish rotation of shell plate.
  
  google "hornady lock and load timing problems". there is some useful info on setting timing.
  
  also make sure the roll pins that hold the handle in place has not moved and acting like a stop on handle movement. happen to me several times.

  Thank you all for responding. No primers in the way. If I hold the pawls down the shaft goes up and down with a pull of the handle without binding. But I can not turn the index wheel and drive shaft at all.

  Called Hornady. Lenny was very helpfull. Talked me thru the problem. The shellplate drive hub was bound in the hub plate. After disconecting it from the drive shaft, had to drive it out with some very heavy blows with a hammer and brass rod. They are sending me a new one...
