I think this is hard, because the scopes with actual magnification usually aren't ACOG clones, and the ones that are clones usually have dot reticles.

Its not an ACOG clone, but its probably a decent enough 1-4x scope with a round/donut reticle (and probably better than any ACOG knockoff):

Also not quite an ACOG clone, and 1x, but cheap and one of the reticle settings is circle with dot:

EDIT: NCSTAR Mark III is an ACOG-looking scope with magnification, but it doesn't come with a donut reticle. Quickly looking at the NCSTAR website, I couldn't find any current product with the donut reticle.

Edit #2: Frankly, I don't think NCSTAR is all that much better than BARSKA, though that said, if you get one that's built correctly, don't care about relatively low quality glass, and are only using it on a .22 for plinking, it may work out well.

I "get" the idea of having a .22 trainer rifle that is otherwise identical (or at least pretty similar) to your functional AR-15 platform, but IMO glass isn't a good place to skimp.

    ^^
The Millett is a pretty good sized scope, I tried one on a Benelli MR1 and it's a bit oversized even for that rifle. I'd like to keep to about 6" or so length & 1" tube. I need very short eye relief because the stock is a 7 1/2" version.

I'm fairly certain I saw one on line, in a catalog somewhere, just can't recall brand.

Hah! Whaddya think I'm replacing .....[;)]

Actually their little 30 mm "SKS" style "Electro" with the AO would have been OK for me, but such a piece of crap. Shame too, if they made them well I think they'd sell great.
