ejector spring replacement on Springfield 944A
Has anyone ever replaced the ejector/extractor spring on a springfield model 944A, single shot, shotgun? I've got a replacement spring and see where it sits in the extractor, but how the heck do you get the spring to stay in there albeit get the retaining pin between the spring and back of the extractor?

Not exactly sure what your question is. The extractor holds the spring in, and the pin holds the extractor in. Spring and extractor slide in together, then insert pin.
It's been so long, I can't even remember what I did with that gun, but I seem to remember sliding the extractor and spring in, closing the action to hold it in, then tapping the pin back in. Hope that helps.0 -

It appears to me that the pin goes between the hinge end of the extractor and the spring. You are correct in that the extractor holds the spring in and the pin holds the extractor. I got the replacement spring which is quite a bit longer than the one that was in the gun (and likely took a set). Wondering if I should trip the spring a bit. Any thoughts?0 -
There were two styles of extractors and springs, one short, and one longer.

I know. Used the same schematic. Am wondering if I need to shorten that spring so it sits in the ejector.0
