219 Wasp loads
Just got a Martini Cadet in 219 Wasp. Anyone have a favorite load? Thanks

That is a lot of cartridge in a small gun.
It isn't a weak action, but the barrel shank is small for the .219 chamber. At least that is what Frank DeHaas said.
Be conservative with the loads.0 -
If the Wasp is based on the 30-30 brass use modest loads.
I bulged a Martini based 219 Zipper AE (22-30-30) using Ackley's published loads of 4064 and 52-53gr HP.0 -
Ackley's published loads have a reputation for being very HOT. 0 -
Everybody's loads for the .219 Donaldson Wasp were hot.
Donaldson was of the opinion that his shortened case was more "efficient" to the point that it would deliver higher velocity than something like a .219 Improved Zipper. He "prooved" his case by shooting at steel plates and displaying more penetration for the Wasp. He did not have a chronograph or a pressure rig. His loads were probably excessive by most standards and he got away with them by good gunsmithing on basically strong actions.0
