25-20 dies

Can anyone tell me the difference between 25-20 dies for Winchester CF verses 25-20 Single shot ? Dies are Ajax and they open the mouth much larger than the 25-20 standard bullet.Any info is appreciated

  The 25-20 single shot is a straight case, the 25-20 Winchester is a shorter bottle necked case. Not the same ctg at all. (25-20ss looks much like the 32-40)

  The 25-20SS is a longer case (not really straight, it does have a slight shoulder on it), but both cartridges use .257" bullets and should have the same size expander ball.
  
  Measure your expander ball - maybe the dies have been modified for some kind of wildcat cartridge?

  Does the resizer die minus expander button resize your 25-20 cases properly?
  If so you can reduce the button diameter down.

  V35, Yes the die resizes ok without the expander ball and de-cap pin, and the die is definately for bottleneck cartridges,I may have to slightly reduce the diamwter of the expander button,it sizes the mouth so over size the bullets drop into the case. All you guys have been very helpful Thanks again

  Sounds like it was modified for cast bullets.
