Post your observations over on the General Discussion forum. She frequents it, as she is a regular poster over there.

My take on it is that 3 digit commercials 1911's are such rare Colts that only very very knowledgeable very deep pocket collectors would bid on a original one. Soon as they see the slide markings on this one, they going to laugh their butts off.

It's going to be won by some poor unknowledgeable schmuck who just fell off the turnip wagon, and doesn't know any better. And he is going to be mighty pissed when he finds out.

No need to be snippy. I have added something to the description.

    New guy, Kasey.

He obviously does not know your reputation.

I have had it pointed out to me that this slide is a later production and may not be original. This is part of an estate sale and we are going by the paperwork that came with this item. If you look at the pictures you can tell that this has been together as it is now for a VERY long time. The wear on the frame and slide are 100% matching. I cannot promise anything further about this item. (emphasis and underlining are mine)

This listing, including the information posted with it, in my opinion, is damnable both by what it says and does not say.....about the item AND the seller.

"this slide is a later production and may not be original." AND "I cannot promise anything further about this item." Well, since the slide IS later production, IT CANNOT BE original....there is no element of possibility or chance to it!!! What's more, the slide is probably 40-50 years younger than the frame and the slide appears (to me, anyway) to have been artifically aged. Furthermore, it is not a matter of "I cannot promise," but a matter of "I will not promise."

Hey, I can wordsmith crap like this all day long and, obviously, so can this seller, who is, very painfully and obviously, way overdrawn on credibility at The Good Faith Bank of Trust.

I could go on, but to what end?

What Wolf said. She knows and must say straight out what it is, or so much for ones reputation.

I don't know Wolf, from a pimple on my butt. But what he is saying is right on, as far as I'm concerned. LF screwed the pooch big time with her weaselly explanation about the Colt, as Wolf pointed out. If I didn't know any better, figured her for being a being a Washington politician or Philadelphia lawyer.

I'm going by what everyone has told me from everywhere. If someone reads the auction I am CERTAIN they have as much info as they need to bid according to what they feel if a fair price on that one.

You guys need to lighten up.

I would be surprised if anyone on this forum besides Perry Shooter even owns Charles Clawson's Colt Government Model book. Kasey provides numerous photos, gives as good a description as anyone who is not a 1911-type expert can give, & updates her description when someone gives her additional information. Not everyone who sells guns is an expert on every one they offer.

Quite a few of us have the big Clawson book and have studied it.
