no SA XD 10mm yet so Glock 29 10mm?
Would really like to see a Springfield Armory XD 10mm subcompact pistol however SA hasn't made one yet although there is a petition although it is questionable if they will or not as apparently there is some question as to the market of such pistol warrants production or not so wait we are. My question is to you Glock 29 10mm owners and how do you like the Glock 29 10mm subcompact, I do not like the fact that it doesn't have the grip safety but I guess we cant have everything? Also iinm I believe that the Glock 20 15 round magazines will fit in the Glock 29 and scherer has a magazine sleeve although I couldn't find any, argh?

G 20 is quite a handfull with hot 10mm loads. I imagine a G 29 with shorter barrel/grip and lighter weight is even worse. As long as you understand this, your good to go.
Try Lonewolf Distributors, they are one of the biggest Glock dealers on the net. If any body would have one of those magazine sleeves it would be them. They might be listed under G 30, rather then G 29 though. Brownells also might carry them.0 -
Yes I am ready for the 10mm in the subcompact as my XD9 needs a friend but just really wanted 10mm in an SA XD subcompact but who knows I may really like the G29 though as well. May just have to get an SA XD 40 after the 10mm G29 now, guess I got bit by the polymer bug, argh.
I used to not even consider the polymer guns thinking old school that steel was so much stronger and such. However the polymer is really impressive and is the 'new modern day metal' as it were being close to the strength of steel and incredibly durable by all accounts. So now I cant wait to put a laser/light on the new SA XD9 and was thinking a Viridian C5L and just need the right holster for it, wish the Viridian C5L wasn't so expensive though but I am seeing better prices so maybe I might find a good deal.
Already got sets of 13 and 16 round mags for the SA XD9, very nice weapon, but I still think that 17 rounds of 9x19mm is just crazy in a subcompact.

Hi. I have a G20 10mm which I shoot and like very much. I wanted a carry gun in that caliber, so I got a G29. I'm not particularly recoil sensitive, but a couple mags of full power loads thru the G29 and it was gone. To my thinking, these are a potent handful. Granted, a 15 round magazine full of hot 10mm in a compact pistol sounds great, but mine was way more than I wanted to handle on a normal basis. If you can, try to borrow or rent one prior to buying. It may save you some unnecessary problems.

Okay sorry to hear that but I am also not recoil sensitive and am of large stature with large hands and have yet to be bothered by recoil. For example my .44 magnum has wood grips and I use +P loads and wouldn't think of getting rid of it and really like it. And while there is felt recoil of course its not bad and have only seen some seldom slight bruising after a while of shooting several speed loaders so I think I will be good with the G29 10mm subcompact. Again though I just wish that SA would make the 10mm in XD but I am going to learn to like the G29 since they probably will not. On another note what would also be nice would be a subcompact hi-cap pistol in 7.62x25, kind of like a auto .357 mag. 0 -

I have had the best luck with 135 grain Noslers H-P's when shooting hot loads in the G 20. There still a handfull but a lot more manageable then the 180 grainers. It seems that the bullet weight has a lot of influence in perceived recoil. I'm sure that it would make a similar difference with the G 29 also.0 -
Found the spacers for the G29 10mm-G20 magazines so instead of the 10 rounds will have 15 rounds and that's more like it, cant wait to get the G29 10mm subcompact. 0 -
I have both the G20, and G29. I can shoot the 29 as well as the 20. Yes it is more recoil, but it is not uncontrollable...and yes, I shoot the 175 grain Winchester Silvertips.
I know the Polymer EAA Witness, has had frame cracking problems in the 10mm versions, so I am not sure what the SA XD would be like.
As far as the grip safety goes, there is no amount of mechanical safeties that will be able to replace the one behind the trigger. For years, it has been a practice to carry five rounds in the old(or new) Colt SAA, with the hammer down on an empty chamber. It is methodology like this that overides the mechanical gadgetry. I have no problems with the Glock safety system.

The Glock, and XD are similar in appearance, but that is where it ends. They even appear to be similar inside, untill you start looking at them with vernier's and micrometer's.
I have killed several deer with the G20, and one with the G29, just to say I did. When a 10mm is loaded like it was intended to be, it is on the bottom end of the 41 Magnum power spectrum, which is well above the 357 Magnum. The 175 grain Silvertips, along with afferings from Double tap, and Buffalo Bore, are the way it was intended to be loaded.

Realistically, I don't carry the G20 that much anymore, with the exception in the deer stand on occaision. Working or playing in the woods in the spring and summer it is the G29, or my S&W 629 with the 4" barrel, as we are black bear laden in my area.

No, I let the FFL go in 2008. I still do some accuracy smithing for myself and friends. I don't run a 6" barrel, I run the stock 4.6" barrel on the 20. My G20 is a first generation, and I got it in 1993 before the ban, so I run the preban 15 round magazines in it. I have a dozen of them. The 29 is a 10 round gun anyway.0 -
The Springfield Armory XD and the Glocks are quite similar and built like tanks, not sure about the EAA Witness though but have heard similar. I just like the grip safety probably from remnants of the 1911 ideology however quite true about the operator being the best safety although some people just cant seem to practice good and safe weapon control protocols which I more often than not find similar in their driving habits as well. I find myself constantly telling them to take their finger off the trigger or watch their muzzle etc. Saw a piece on the G20 with an extended 6" barrel and the person was using it as a hunting sidearm and found that interesting in a semi-auto of which revolvers usually handle. 0 -

I would imagine so otherwise there would be a conflict of interest and patent issues no doubt, but either way I like both and would prefer the grip safety but it is not an issue though as I have others that do not and they are considered curio relics. I prefer the 230gr when available myself and use GD, GS, DT, BB, RBCD, CB etc for ammunition as well. 10mm rifle would be a hoot to shoot in a an UZI or MP5 style weapon with hi-cap mags, will have to look into that as well. I think that a G20 with a 6" barrel would be in order then for a hunter and or sidearm while in the woods.

Very cool, yeah I would either go with a .44 mag or 10mm myself in that situation as well with the bears and such and which of course are always good for social work if need be too. So in NY I presume that you can only have the 10 round mags, that's kind of lame wish that NY would champion gun rights for a change. So are you a brick and mortar store ffl dealer there, what 6" barrel do you like for the Glock 20 10mm, as I really like that idea as I can always use another woods gun and in semi auto too?0 -

Oh very good then, if you were going to run a 6" barrel in the Glock 20 what 'drop in' barrel would you go with? I am going to use Glock 20-15 round magazines in the Glock 29 with Scherer magazine sleeves. BTW I watched the Springfield Armory XD and Glock torture tests and I must say very impressive.0
