Nickle plated Colt Army Special

I found one with a serial # (527xxx) dating it back to 1926. 38 special w/ a 4" barrel

Did Colt offer nickle plating then, or was this plated after the fact?

  More then likely it was nickeled after it left Colt. You might consider posting quality photos if you can though. For positive identification and valuation from our folks.

  A suprising number of Army Specials left Colt nickeled. I'm betting its original.

  The 1926 catalog lists the Army Special in "full blue" or "full nickel" finish. Rufe's suggestion to post photographs would let the experts here help you determine if it's original. Blue book says (factory) nickel finish adds 15% to value (FWIW).
