Neck clearance
What is considered to be adequate neck clearance between case neck diameter and chamber neck diameter? .003 inch?

Yes, but we know that a lot of brass varies from .001 to .003. If you neck turn your brass, .001 to .002 clearance gives better accuracy and longer case life. This is why "tight neck" chambers are desirable on custom target rifles. 0 -
As zimmden went down the road with, the difference between them is .002"-.005". for competition chambers. In standard rifle chambers, especially big bores needing some free-play, I've seen it as high as .013". 0
