I've been using the T/C Hawken 209 adapters for about 5 years for target practice and Whitetail Deer hunting in all kinds of weather conditions using the winchester triple 7 209 primers with Hogdons Triple 7 2F powder, about 80g in 45 and 50 cal Hawkens rifles for deer hunting. Very good accuracy and velocity about 2000-2200fps. (I use the Hornady XTP and XTP/Mag pistol bullets and the Hornady #6751 sabots with the 50cal/45 bullets and use the Harvester High pressure sabots in the 45cal/40 (10MM)bullets.
I use both the T/C 1:48 barrels and Green Mtn IBS 1:28 twist drop in Hawken barrels with 45 cal sabots for the 50 calibers and 40 cal sabots with the 45 cal barrels for very good accuracy. I spray painted the caps for the adapters blaze orange for finding easier when dropped in woods. Green mtn also makes a 1 inch wide IBS (Interchangeable Barrel System) 50 caliber for the 54 cal Hawken rifles. You can review the Green Mountain IBS barrels at their website.
When installing into the green mtn IBS barrel loosen the side allen screw first so as the 209 adaper will tighten down completely, then snug the small allen side screw.
I've never had any issues with the adapters nor had any misfires and all ignition is sealed. (the adapters have a lifetime warrenty if you save your receipts) Paul contacted me about one year after I had purchased my first ones about a factory recall on the caps only, and I sent mine in to him for replacement. They even sent return postage paid envelopes for the re-call.
Do read and follow the directions with the adapters and follow all Muzzleloader safety rules, like #1 is ALWAYS wear safety glasses, even though everything is a sealed system.
