Hi, Bill - The firing pin rotates with each cock of the hammer to align with the next barrel. .30rf short rounds are very hard to find and expensive when you do. The .22 short Sharps derringers bring a bit more money for that reason.

Firing pin does not rotate when cocked, so I need to find a 125 yr old gunsmith!!!

Hello Bill I don't want to sound rude but due to the fact that you can't buy ammo to shoot WHY spend money to get the fiering pin to rotate. Just asking. [?]

    Hi Bill,
If you want to get the gun fixed try these people:

    PISCO
    1455B N Hemlock St
    Coquille, OR 97423
    Phone (541) 396-5558
    Fax (541) 396-2347
    Robert Dunlap

I don't know for sure if PISCO will help you, and I do not know what it will cost you, as I do not know their hourly rate and they may have to actually fabricate any broken parts, but I am very confident that they have the qualifications and the skills to do a professional job of repairing your gun. If they say they do not want to take on the work (I doubt they will say that), ask them for a recommendation.

Check the Internet for .30RF ammo. If unsuccessful in finding anything through normal searching, you could try signing onto the SASS website:
    http://www.sassnet.com/
You should sign up, or register as a user, picking a "cowboy" alias or username. Then go to their forums and and ask your ammo sourcing questions on the SASS Wire forum. One of those people may know.

    Why?

I'm retired from a job that required all my ability to " Endeaver to Persevere", find solutions to difficult problems, manage a $5,000,000 per year manufacturing project, find the perfect metal forming lubricant to form the fins in 60 grain flechettes, find a source for 1065 spheroidized annealed wire in coil, etc, etc,.

So, I guess I still like the intelluctual stimulation involved.

Does it look like one of these?9308Shooting_July_07_060.JPG

Even if you find the ammo you will have about a 30% failure rate.
    I know I do.
You need to turn some rimfire adapters and use a .22 blank to act as the primer.
