HRA stock on IHC
A guy that has an IHC M1 for sale on Gunbroker says that a GCA magazine article from 2005 states that some IHC's were manufactured with HRA stocks and that they would be correct.I have an all IHC that has an HRA stock, and have been looking for a IHC but if it's possible mine is original I will quit looking and maybe save some money.Any of you folks have a copy of that article? I would appreciate seeing it. Thanks

I've been a GCA member (#458) since just about day one, long before it became "fashionable" to join in order to make purchases from the CMP. The article in question is found in the Spring 2005 GCA Journal and outlines the use of HRA stocks on IHC rifles assembled in IHC's second contract. Although the hRA stocks were primarily used in the 5.15 million to 5.17 million range, sporadic use of HRA stocks was also found on serial numbers as low as 5.03 million up to 5.2 million. All of the observed HRA stocks used on IHC rifles have the late 1/2" DAS stamp rather than the earlier 3/8" (used exclusively by HRA). Only 20% of original IHC rifles in those ranges actually came OEM with HRA stocks so they are pretty rare. Does your rifle fall into this serial range and does the stock have the stock a 1/2" stamp? If so then the stock may be correct. 0 -
Dave, it would have been helpful if you had posted a link to the auction so we didn't have to search for ourselves.
But, yes, this is accurate information. According to Scott Duff, all the IHC's with HRA stocks have been found in the 5000501 to 5278245 range, which is where this one falls. Of course, there's no way to prove that any specific IHC rifle with an HRA stock was originally made that way.
Email me, & I will make you a copy of the article.
