Winchester 94/22M XTR DOM and Value?
I have the opportunity to buy a Winchester 94/22M (22 WMR) XTR that's unfired and new in the box with all paperwork for $750. Gun has no checkering, but the factory wood, both butt and forearm, is exceptional with plenty of figure and fiddleback. Not a mark on the metal or wood to be found. Box is in perfect condition. Serial number - F368XXX. Can someone please tell me when this gun was made and what the book value might be? Thank you.

Looks like there's no published database for 94/22s, so I will have to call Winchester to verify DOM unless someone can help me out. However, after a little more research I found the following website that provides a ballpark DOM for 94/22s: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115110&highlight=9422. Since the XTR was introduced in 1978 and produced without checkering until 1980, it appears the gun I'm looking at might have been minted in early 1978. I also read somewhere that early guns had steel mag tubes while later variants had brass tubes. This one has the steel tube. More evidence to suggest this particular gun was one of the earliest off the line? Anyone care to chime in on that note? Also, still looking for a reasonable purchase price for this exceptionally nice, NIB rifle. Thank you. 0 -
