It won't cost you an arm and a leg
your A-5 is fine so long as it has choke tubes or is open choked. If not find a used barrel choked I/C and have at it !

Hopefully you have a newer A-5, that has the Invecter choke system. I have shot both disciplines with an 870 Express Turkey gun, that has a 21 inch barrel. I got a skeet, IC, Mod, IM, and Full set for it, to go along with the extra full turkey choke that came with it. It is humbling to try skeet with the extra full, to say the least.

At some point in time though, you will want a gun for each game.

Your A5 will work fine but as laxcoach said it requires a more open choke than trap. Skeet is a fun game and can become addicting so for sure get a reloader if you don't already have one. It's a game the wife & even the whole family can get involved in since firearms of lesser recoil(20,28,.410) can be used effectively. Eventually you may desire to shoot competetively either on the local, state, national or even olympic level which can become a good excuse to travel and acquire more elaborate guns. If the wife and family is involved, which a lot are, these matches can become quite a social event. I've heard some put the game down stating that it is boring to them because you're shooting the same target presentations over and over but I haven't seen them on the podium at the world shoot. Visit some local events and have fun. Hope this helps a little.

I usually shoot 3-5 rounds of skeet a week. As others have mentioned your A5 should work fine if it is choked and fits you properly. Personally I shoot a 28 gauge O/U Citori. The main reason that I shoot an O/U is that I hate to chase my emptys since I reload all of my 28's. I do however have a 20 gauge auto that I shoot factory shells with. Just go out and try it first with your A5 and see how you like the game. Ask other shooters about what they like and dislike, and ask to shoot their guns. Any decent shooter would not have a problem helping a new shooter get into the game. Good luck and be forewarned that it is fun and addicting.[:)]
