Smith and Wesson Model 29-2 grips.
I have 2 sets and was wondering which ones were stock with this model. I've tried looking on google and a few other sites, but I seem to see a variety.
Leaning towards the lighter ones, they seem like they have the wear and age the currently attached ones lack.

They appear to be the same model grip, just that one has darker, and more characterized wood. As we all know, the wood grain itself will vary.

According to the S&W Standard catalog, the 29-2 came with walnut - not rosewood - target stocks. 0 -
Sir,
The S&W M29-2 was produced from 1962 till 1982 & during that 20 year period, several changes were made in the stock design.
If you would repost with the ser# range (include all letters & numbers from the bottom of the gripframe) X out the last two digits if you like, & show us a pic of the left side of your grip panels. With the ser# we can date your gun & determine the correct stocks.
The grip panels on the gun appear to be checkered target Goncalo alves. Without seeing the relief for loading/speedloader I can not tell closer than 1968 to late 1980's.
Hope this helps,0
