Some books say this was in a serial number range for Springfield made frames others say Colt we need good clear pictures of INSPECTOR marks near the Magazine release. on left side of frame the pistol does have condition problems. This will hurt the value. also need inspector marks on the barrel

EDIT we still need a closeup of the left side grip frame and trigger guard area the inspector mark is of a signet type of 3 letters in scrip. The barrel with the S P is NOT a a colt but Sringfield the hood of the barrel on the rearhidden by touchingthe breach face of the slide with pistol closed should have the letter S. My book states serial 125567-133186 was assigned to Springfield armory but 128067-1333186 was suspended. Then also states serial 125566 shipped OCT 9 1915 and serial 133187 shipped sept.30 1916 very confused time frame we really need to see the inspector mark on LEFT side to determine if frame is Colt or Springfield.

The lighting I used does the gun no favors, I will get better pics tomorrow when there is natural light.

Kind of mystified why there is no inspector mark above the mag release, especially since it appears to have original finish.

Regardless of whether it's a Springfield Armory or Colt, the slide is from a later gun. And, the barrel is a USGI WW2 replacement. So, at best, it's a Mixed Parts Mongrel.

Perry Shooter is right, there are problems with the finish. But, I would still expect it to bring $1,200 on GB.
